Hi, i would like to share my experience of getting a custom rack done for my motorcycle.
The issue:
- Heaviness of Givi 58L box
- Vibration due to plastic baseplate
- Steel rack
Around September 2025, the combination of these 3 caused my rack to crack. The same thing happened with my old Daelim R125 back in 2016. The rack actually broke off while riding. Thankfully, nothing serious.
Once i noticed the crack, i removed the rack and proceeded to check on where i could get a custom rack done. I wanted to get a rack made from stainless steel to ensure that it does not break. In addition to this, i also bought a used givi metal baseplate.
The options were:
- Bike fabricator
- Seng kwang metal industrial co
- Mulfer Kok Welding Works
However, I decided to try my luck and headed down to Pioneer Point to see a Mr.Alex, whom i saw a few months ago to cut a small piece of metal. I noticed that he also did metal fabrication. I presented my old rack to him and asked if he could remake this in stainless steel. He mentioned no problem. After some discussions and measurements, i left the place.
In 2 months, he got the rack prepared. My plan was to remove the slide handles and have the rack function as a handle simultaneously. Also, i requested for a small handle to be made on the left side, so that i could grip the rack easily.
Within the next few weeks i got an update.
A final request to him was to powder coat the entire rack and baseplate.
A week later, i got the final product. I was extremely satisfied with his work. He also told me that this was his first time making a rack for a motorcycle, and was very pleased with the rack. Overall, i am happy to have found Mr Alex who was able to accommodate to my request. Being at pioneer point, it was also easy for me to travel there.
Total downtime: 3 months
Total price: $370
Do note that he does metal fabrication among other things. However, unlike Seng Kwang or Bike fabricator, i don't think he is specialized in making motorcycle racks. Therefore, you would need to bring along your old rack or a sample rack for him to use as a reference.
So, for those who live in the west area and are looking for an affordable option, you may head down to
